The dining room serves as so much more than a place to sit and sup with the family. This space also does yeoman’s duty as a homework station, family meeting place, or a quiet spot for a midnight snack.

Dining rooms come in all shapes and sizes. From tiny nooks in an apartment to dedicated rooms with a farmhouse table for 12, thoughtfully designed dining rooms serve as beautiful and super functional spaces within our homes. Today, we’re sharing some of our favorite dining rooms which feature pretty sweet handcrafted lighting as the finishing touch!

This gorgeous dining nook features shiplap walls, a custom teak-and-holly table, and plenty of natural light. Two Maritime Shallow Bowl Pendants, with 14″ shades and White finish, add some nautical style perfect for this seaside home. These handcrafted fixtures are also customized with galvanized guards and frosted glass.

This smaller nook also boasts plenty of natural light and an Ivanhoe® Wilcox Porcelain Pendant serving as the focal point of the space. This homeowner wanted a clean-lined, fresh, black-and-white space with barn-style lighting. This American-made ceiling pendant boasts a generous 16″ shade, White finish, and standard white cord.

Copper lends itself well to more formal dining spaces. Ben wanted something that was American made, functional but not fussy, and would age well. He checked all the boxes when he found the Barn Light Benjamin Industrial Pendant. Ben chose a classic Raw Copper finish on these barn pendants which feature 10″ shades, a Black cup finish, and Black cotton twist cords.

Living in western Canada, this couple created a warm, inviting kitchen with exposed brick, wood floors, and a small dining table. They added a solid copper Original™ Vented Warehouse Pendant for a final touch of character. Copper works with almost every color so even if they install new curtains or buy new dishes, the pendant will still complement the space. The couple customized this handspun pendant with a 16″ shade, Raw Copper finish, and narrow slot vents.

Grace’s playful dining space and adjoining kitchen feature happy pops of turquoise and pink. She chose the Kao Clear Schoolhouse Pendant to brighten her table and customized it with a large, clear glass globe, Blush Pink fitter and canopy, and a black-and-white cloth cord.

Jim and Nobel took their 1960s-era home down to the studs to create a New York-style loft with wide-plank flooring, cement counters, rustic barn doors, and industrial-style lighting. For the dining area, they selected the Foundry 4-Light Chandelier. This rustic industrial fixture sports four cast-guard-and-glass lights, finished in Barn Red, affixed to a rugged pipe frame mounting.

With 12-foot ceilings in her dining room/kitchen space, Meaghan needed a large pendant with the ability to customize the mounting. Her husband wanted a chain option so the Steber Wilcox Deep Bowl Chain Hung Pendant offered the perfect solution. Their new chain hung pendant features a generous 20″ shade, a Delphite Blue porcelain enamel finish, and matching blue chain.

Aaron also chose the high-gloss look of porcelain enamel for his dining room which features white bead board ceilings and shiplap walls. The Hancock 3-Light Porcelain Stem Mount Pendant features three 12″ shades, a 36″ stem, and a heavy-duty ceiling canopy. Aaron loves the even light spread the fixture creates across the extended farm-style table while the blue color that provides a soft punch of color in the space.
